I've always been wondering if it's a bad custom to use several maps on a 'single' object. Until now I've been trying to get all in just one map. I've only just got into C++ and Direct3D, so I'm probably going to figure out the memory cost and such lol. But I wonder if you had any experience with it.
Thanks! The individual textures allow for seamless application across all surfaces that require it. The UVs are a mess if you were to see them. It's definitely not bad to use multiple maps but you want to try to keep them as small and as few as possible for lower memory/draw calls.
This turned out great, your diffuse comes off as just a bit flat though (which Is probably what you were going for with the toony style.) I think a bit more intensity on the spec would take this much further
Thanks for the critique! This project was a nice learning experience for me and unfortunately I only had a few days to work on all the textures due to homework and my own neglect. Did you see the Darksiders II weapon challenge on Polycount? I bet you'd do well in it!
